Job Description: Cardno ATC is a national engineering/consulting firm that specializes in environmental engineering, geotechnical engineering, and construction materials testing and inspection services. Cardno ATC is currently seeking a candidate to fill an immediate opening for a full-time Project Manager. Employer is willing to allow candidate to telecommute from remote locations within Iowa or Nebraska. Essential Job Functions: Responsible for all aspects of management related to investigating the nature and extent of contamination and/or developing and implementing cleanup and closure activities in an economical, timely, and technically sound manner. Managers are expected to independently maintain a client base with limited assistance from senior personnel and understand client needs, objectives, and regulatory requirements. This position reports directly to the Operations Manager and must be able to manage project team member resources and subcontractors. Candidate must have remediation experience in petroleum, chlorinated solvents, LUST, and state lead cleanup. Additionally: Provide/manage sufficient amount of work to keep a project management team productive. Identify work opportunities with existing and potential clients and make efforts to secure the work through networking and the referral process. Schedule or supervise professional-level technical and administrative support staff to achieve established objectives and deadlines. Manage all tasks necessary to complete a project’s scope of work. Activities include, but are not limited to, (Investigation) advance soil borings, obtain and field screen soil samples; install, develop, and sample monitoring wells; complete geologic and aquifer studies; prepare samples for the laboratory; perform soil-gas surveys; perform excavation zone assessments; and perform record searches; (Cleanup) install and operate product recovery systems; perform pilot tests to support remedial system design; conduct remedial system installation and operation; maintain, coordinate, and oversee tank removals; and decontaminate manufacturing facilities. Responsible for project administration including project financial performance, budgeting, recognizing the need for change orders on a project and directing appropriate staff, selecting subcontractors and directing the issuance of purchase orders, approval of subcontractor invoices, directing the preparation of and approving project invoices, maintaining project files, closing the job, preparing project descriptions, and conducting project performance reviews. Manage project portfolio; senior level will provide final review of all project submittals and correspondence. Evaluate the needs of a project and effectively delegate various tasks and responsibilities. Required Skills: Education/Experience/Certifications: Bachelor’s degree in civil/environmental/chemical engineering, or geology. 5-10 years of project management experience in environmental consulting is preferred. Licensed Iowa Ground Water Professional preferred. Knowledge, Skills and Ability Must be skilled in the following areas: Regulatory interaction and negotiation. Conducting risk based closures. Interpreting geologic and hydrogeological information and chemical data. Environmental cleanup regulations and methodologies and strong computer and verbal/written communication skills are a must. Should be able to: Apply regulatory programs to specific project situations. Prioritize work load and multitask. Document and organize while working on multiple projects. Work out doors in a variety of weather conditions. Work safely without presenting a direct threat to self or others. Work closely and manage others in a team environment. Maintain a working relationship with clients. Knowledge of: The principals, practices, & techniques of environmental investigations including soil and groundwater sampling and analysis.
